Session 6: The Principles of Captivating Writing
This session marks a major turning point in the future of A Mug of Insights, and I'm so excited for you to be a part of it.
After giving this session live to our Cold Brew members last week, I realised that there's a massive blindspot in my work.
For the past 10 years, I'm all about sharing how to acquire knowledge & understanding, but I haven't touched on the most rewarding part of our lifelong learning journey:
Teaching what you know to an audience that is desperately looking for answers only you can provide. And one of the best ways to do this is through writing.
I owe 100% of my career to my ability to write, and so far, this craft alone has given me a full-time career and a book deal with Bloomsbury.
Yet, most people run away from the blank screen before ever taking writing seriously because they fear that
- Their grammar isn't perfect
- They don't know how to put a sentence together
- Their style sucks and no one will read it
Yet, just like everything else we've covered on A Mug of Insights, these issues can all be fixed with the right instructions & exercises. So, in this session, I'll give you a complete tool-kit that'll teach you:
- All the grammar rules you need to know to start writing
- How to compose a sentence that captivates your readers
- A handful of rhetorical tricks that'll help you turn the perfect phrase
After you finish the session, you'll feel inspired to liberate what's in your mind onto the page and honestly, it's a skill that's becoming increasingly valuable because fewer and fewer people know how to write. AI has given people the illusion of mastery over words, but only those who have a real command of language can outpace the world of AI writing running amok.
And if you're excited to join me on this journey of reclaiming the use of our words, I'll see you in this session.
